Playtimes at Seer Green CE School are changing...
Amazing play, every day, for every child is our ambition

At Seer Green CE School, we believe that play is essential for physical, emotional, social, spiritual and intellectual development of each child. We recognise that play is an essential part of a happy and healthy childhood and are committed to developing more exciting play opportunities in school. Children spend approximately 20% of their time at Primary engaged in playtimes. We want playtime to be the best it can be
OPAL gives us the opportunity to create great memories for your children. OPAL is all about using natural and man-made resources to allow children to be inspired and creative at playtime. Children spend 1.4 years of their primary school attendance in playtime. This time is valuable and needs careful planning. Better play means happier children. Happier children mean fewer behaviour problems; a more positive attitude to school, lessons that are more effective, core skills development, less staff time spent resolving problems, fewer accidents and happier staff.
We are delighted to have signed up to work with OPAL on an 18 month project to improve our playtimes and to help us ensure that our fantastic school grounds are used to their full potential, from September 2025 we will adopt an OPAL philosophy that allows the children freedom to explore play in their own imaginative ways, often using found and gathered resources in the natural outdoor environment as well as man-made items.
Through this approach to play, children will not only be more active at playtimes, but they will also have the opportunity to further develop life skills such as cooperation, teamwork and problem solving. This will enable them to become motivated and enthusiastic builders, engineers, explorers and designers

Please watch this space for updates and photographs of our work to develop play experiences for all our children over the coming months.
